Saving Dogs

By Aust Wick

My wife loves dogs. We have a beautiful standard poodle that is wonderful with children. I am happy with one dog. One dog is not enough for my wife. Since it was a compromise to get one dog she has found a way to fill her love for dogs and not have more then one dog.
Some time ago my wife was on craigslist and someone posted that they were going to take there dog to the pound if someone didn't come pick her up today. So my wife and her big heart went and picked up the dog. She noticed the dog was in kinda bad shape and she hadn't been fixed. So my wife paid for a vets visit and to have her fixed. She got her a haircut and then adopted her out. She was able to adopt her to a good home. My wife felt so good about it, that now she does that for about a dog a month. She saves them from careless owners, gets them updated on shots and such and then gets the dogs into better homes. I don't think she would have to do this as much if there weren't so many backyard breeders.
Recently she picked up a nice dog but she had been over bread. I guess in the birthing process the dogs insides kinda came out. My wife took the dog to the vet when she picked up the dog. The vet explained that that wasn't the first time that dogs insides had been outside. The vet explained that that dog had been over bread and that the breeder probably pushed the insides back in two or three times just so she could keep breading the dog.
So my wife had the do get the surgery, it was way dehydrated and the dog is now in a good home. We sometimes get money during the adoptions and sometimes not.
I hope that people will consider adopting a dog from a shelter before going to a pet store or backyard breeder. I'm sure a there are some good breeders out there. I just wish there weren't bad ones that make them all look bad.
